Excellent article. Very earnest, straightforward advice for living under — and resisting — authoritarianism. I will definitely be using the strategies you listed and passing them on to others. Together, we can overcome this tyranny and create a more just, connected, and compassionate world in its place.
Guys with AI yr apps aren’t safe anymore they can be unlocked. If you are going to airports they are checking phones with AI don’t carry yr normal devices. Have ones with other accounts, nothing mentioned about politics and at least a few months of innocent messages . Take Face ID off them though that might not work so be prepared. Don’t have searches on those devices that are about anything political. Even your algorithms can give you away. Use alias on social media with vpns and don’t connect them to yr ph number or a regular email you use. Be safe!
In other words, how to try to live underground rather than protect our civil liberties openly. I find it difficult to watch people choose not to stand up for others right. Not to speak up. I see videos of people being dragged away at events and seemingly normal people choosing not to say, “She’s okay. We’ll talk with her. We’re good.” No one is looking for common ground. The opposite of common ground is fear and withdrawal. You are right that we must protect ourselves. We must do that by coming together and acting together so that America can see and remember the best of our community standards. But thank you for caring and being aware, and speaking from our common experience of being an oppressed people who know when and how to hide.
Hey Dawn, thanks for the feedback. I’d encourage you to still check it out. I’m not giving up in advance or imploring others to do so, I’m trying to provide a roadmap to allow people stay vigilante, resist, stay safe and organize under authoritarianism. But I understand how the title might lead you to another conclusion.
Thanks again for the note, take care, and be encouraged 🙏🏽💪🏽
I encourage you to rename it then as more of a survival guide as we make our way through this time. We need positive energy to uplift and give hope. I’m still so distressed over the title of it that I’m uncertain as to whether I’ll read it. But thank you for the reply.
Great post. Thank you.
Thank you for sharing this. It is incredibly sad that things have gone so far.

Thank you so much for writing this.
In Hitler's Germany, the Jews that survived were the ones who got out in time. Never be ashamed of leaving if that's what you need to do.

You don’t live under authoritarianism, you exist. Resist now or suffer the inevitable consequences.

I can’t even read this article. The title alone is sickening. Please stop complying in advance. I for one, will not surrender.
